Matchday Report by - Jack Hurley
HABCC won the toss and elected to field on pitch that looked great for seam bowlers and the weather overcast.
James Edge and Michael Roe opened the bowling and were looking sharp. Moving the ball, great pace and line, especially from Edge.
Bentley found themselves 14-2 with a wicket a piece for the openers.
Walker and Hine then came into the attack and continued the pressure the openers applied. Walker bowled some testing deliveries and Hine was disciplined. Both picked up 3 wickets each in a great 20 over spell.
Downes and Creevy cleared up at the back end of the innings and continued the trend of brilliant Havering bowling. Bentley 159 all out.
Havering got off to the worst possible start losing both openers in the first 2 overs.
Que Ryan Hurley and James edge to crease. A partnership of 98 in 17 overs pretty much put the game to bed. Capitalising on the bad ball and pushing this good ones for quick singles. Edge was out for 37, bringing Rhodes in to hold up one end while Hurley hit out to finish on 92 not out. 162-4 was the the score in reply.
Some fantastic pieces of individual fielding, not forgetting Peter Edges camera dive-catch, almost relieving the Andrew Strauss effort of the 2005 ashes, capped off an all round great team performance.
