maiden 50 and Hurley hitting a fine 57 before being caught behind. A stand of 28 between Alan Roe (11) and Howard
Bancroft (28no) saw Havering finish on 195 for 7 off 40 overs.

Havering lost by 35 runs.
The 4th XI entertained a young Harlow Town side at a much improved hall lane. Havering skipper Mick Houghton won the
toss and put Harlow Town in. They were soon in trouble with some tight bowling from Howard Bancroft and young Adam Thain
with Bancroft taking a hat trick in the 3rd over and finishing with figures of 5-18 off 8 overs. Harlow Town were 27-5
but a stand of 85 by two colts, J.Smith and A.Simpson, allowed Town to reach 159 all out with young Thain taking the

In reply Havering were soon in trouble losing wickets and at one stage they were 25-5 but operner Simon Trowse was still
there and he was joined by his dad Andy and they put on 93, Andy playing the anchor role with Simon reaching his 50, but
the overs were being eaten away and at this stage needing 10 an over. Dad Andy was run out for 16 but a stand of 41

Havering 4th XI skipper Mick Houghton lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp Upminster wicket and were soon in
trouble losing regular wickets to some tight bowling. Hearn taking 3 wickets and Gajadhar in his 2nd spell taking a

Matthews knocked off the runs in 20 overs losing 4 wickets, Matt Lanagan getting 2-15 and skipper Mick Houghton 2-35.
habcc 4th x1 83 all out
Havering lost by 6 wickets
Havering entertained Old Citizens, a conference fixture,at Hall Lane. Havering won the toss & elected to bat. Openers
Dave Roe & Andy Hurley got of to a solid start, putting on 39 for the 1st wicket before Hurley fell to an excellent one
handed slip catch - they either stick or they dont & this one certainly stuck.
Roe & Matt Lanagan promoted up the order then took the score to 82 before Lanagan was given out caught behind for 15.
A mini collapse then ensued with a further 2 wickets falling without an addition to the score - Kyle Butler
out LBW for 0 & Dave Roe being bowled for a fine top scoring 45. At 82 for 4 & with the run rate up at circa 4 an over,
Havering were still in good shape. However the loss of those 3 quick wickets proved costly & Havering never really
recovered as they got bogged down & the runs dried up. Clive Tickner & Colin Gentle then put on 32 for the 6th wicket,
before a mix up in the running saw Gentle run out for 18 - Tickers holding his hand up to that one. Another mini
collapse then took place, where Havering lost 3 wickets for 1 run. Firstly Andy Trowse looking for a quick single to mid
wicket starting running towards the other end but forgot to tell his partner & was run out for 7. The score 125 for 6.
Tom Buckley then came to the crease & got a shocker that kept low & was bowled for 0. Alan Roe was then out soon after
LBW for a duck. The score now 126 for 8. Jack Sainty had a brief sortie at the wicket, before being stumped for 8 with
the score on 140. This brought skipper Mick Houghton to the wicket. Unfortunately he never faced a ball & Tickers was
last man out, bowled for a protracted 19. Havering finished on 145 all out in 36.3 overs. Those "lost" overs were to
prove costly.
Old Citizens got off to the worst possible reply, with skipper Gaj getting bowled in the 1st over for a duck to a ball
from Gentle that just didnt bounce. Other opener Saldanha proved to be the match winner as he batted through the innings
for a fine 69 not out. Only 2 other Citizens batsmen got double figures (Ringer 26 & Sen 20) as they reached their
target for the loss of 9 wickets in the 35th over. Wickets were shared between Gentle 2-27, Sainty 1-25, Butler 1-29,
Buckley 1-20 & pick of the bowlers Matt Lanagan who bowled 6 fine overs of spin & took 4-15. A special mention to Andy
Trowse who literally throw every body part at the ball when fielding at deepish mid-wicket. He stopped lots of runs & if
not for his efforts, the game would certainly have been over sooner.
An exciting game which for the 2nd week running saw the 4ths on the wrong side of a narrow defeat.
HABCC IV made the visit to Stock in this friendly fixture, which turned out to be an exciting match. Stock won the toss
& elected to bat first. Openers Grundy & Boxer both made steady starts, both getting into the twenties before both
became the victims of Tyler Gale, his 1st wickets in adult cricket. Gale finished with 2-26. No3 bat Pratt also scored
into the twenties before he was bowled by Trowse. Skipper Hodges fell cheaply for 4, bowled by Houghton, who bowled
economically for 1-27 from his 8 overs. Those were the only wickets to fall. Star batsman for Stock was young Jack
Mayhook who scored an unbeaten 86 and was well supported by veteran Ted Woodgate who chipped in with 32 not out.
Stock finished their 40 overs on 211 for 4.
In reply, HABCC got off to the worst start, losing Roger Honey for a duck early on, caught and bowled to opening bowler
Wright. Other opener Hurley (37) & Lee McVelia (36) then steadied the ship before both fell either side of the drinks
interval. Evans then went cheaply for 2 leaving Andy Trowse and Dave Roe at the crease and needing to score at around 8
runs per over. Roe put the bowling to the sword smashing 95 which included 19 fours and a five and was out, bowled, with
the penultimate ball with only 2 runs needed for victory. The scramble to then get at least a single off the last ball
to earn a tie, was too much and Alan Roe was run out. Andy Trowse remained undefeated on 14.
Havering lost by 1 run.
