After a long break from regular Sunday cricket, Great Baddow visited Broxhill Road for a friendly. The visitors only had ten
men and Home team skipper Tim Hills won the toss and decided to bat.
Dan Beechey and Scott Jackson had struggled all season to put a decent opening stand on the board but today they looked good.
Dan was watchful and steady and Scott was imperious driving off his back foot several times. He reached his fifty in good time
but just before drinks, with the score on 101 he was finally bowled. Emma Honey and Tim Hills followed in quick succession,
then Dan Beechey mistimed a pull shot and was caught for 47. Suddenly the good start look almost wasted but the clubs superb
youngsters took their chances very well and the middle order batted through the mini collapse. Reece Beechey (18), Tom Mitchell
(22) and Ollie Williams (30) all looked very comfortable. The visitors did not appear to pay them their due surrounding the bat
early in each of their innings only to realise their error too late for each wicket. Jack Houghton came in on 187-6 with
around 7 overs to go. He promptly smashed a 21 ball 58 and the tail also supported and batted sensibly and a seasons best
total set by Havering of 265-9 off their 40 overs.
Looking to defend that big target Jack Houghton opened the bowling to an attacking field with Reece Beechey in support and
Reece struck first. Only Withams (59) the Baddow opener offered real resistance. Jack took a couple himself as Baddow seemed
to be swinging from the hip. Havering then brought both their spinners on with Ryan Hurley striking twice in his first over
and Mitchell Walker at the other end, both finding some good turn and totally tying down the opposition. Ryan finished 3-37
off his 8 and Mitchell 2-29 off 8. Baddows last pair Pannell and Ausitn defended doggedly throughout the majority of this
spell, surrounded by close fielders. When the spinners ran out of overs Paul Leggatt came into the attack to put his name on
the board strking the final blow of the match with his fourth delivery bowling Great Baddow all out for 166 with ten overs
and 2 balls remaining.
Haverings Sunday side travelled to Wickford as good as condemned to relegation from the Warsop 3rd division and Tim Hills
urged his side to rally in their final outing in the competition.
Winning the toss Tim Hills put the hosts into bat.
An even start on a dark and damp looking track was suddenly brought to life when Shaun Bailey took two wickets in two overs
to put Havering in control. Shaun finished his spell with 3-44 and was the pick of the bowlers, Luke Dyerson supported well
with 2-20 off his 8 overs with 4 maidens and his work really quelled any resistance. Where the hosts looked to push on they
lost regular wickets finishing 189 all out off the final ball of the innings. It was a superb effort from Havering who have
struggled all season to get a grip on a match and their league position showed that.
Havering knew that a strong start with the bat was essential to set them up for what should have been a comfortable chase but
Scott Jackson, who has opened all season with Dan Beechey, pulled up lame in the field and had to drop down the order. Tom
Mitchell was promoted to the opening spot with Dan Beechey and they started slowly but surely. In the sixth over with 17 on
the board Tom was bowled by big Australian paceman McMahon who shortly after dispatched Simon Trowse. Havering then collapsed
in spectacular fashion going from 35-2 to 41-7 and then 66-9. It was a real sucker punch with Wickfords seam bowler Harrison
doing the major damage finishing 6-21 off six overs. Luke Dyerson and Shaun Bailey then started the final wicket partnership
of the innings and Havering players by this point just wanted to get away and head back down the A127. Luke looked very
determined and Shaun Bailey his usual plucky self and they started to tick the scoreboard over. It went from endearing to
annoying for the hosts who then watched the three figures come up on the board. At the fifty partnership the fielding side
were visibly getting rattled and ragged, misfielding in the setting sun and dropping catches. Finally Shaun holed out for 29
and Luke finished 38 not out and was without doubt the best innings of the day, batting sensibly and solidly but destroying
the bad ball. Added to his bowling earlier he certainly took the plaudits for the day. Havering finally all out for 137 which
is poor but it could have so much more embarrassing.
League campaign over, looking forward to some friendlies again.
The Hospice game went well with Havering-Atte-Bower batting first. Eddie Wallace, Mark Butler and Tim Hills all scored 50 and and retired with Havering finishing on 241 after their 35 overs. The Hospice XI took 32.1 overs to score 242 winning by 4 wickets. We raised 427 pounds for St.Francis Hospice.
Havering hosted the team formerly known as Silver Titans, who are annual regulars to Broxhill Road. Tim Hills won the toss
and put the visitors in, a decision that would be later regretted. The visitors lost an early wicket to Jack Houghton who was
bowling a fine first over and getting his reward 5th ball of the match removing the opener. A big stand of 76 for the second
wicket then had to be broken by Scott Jackson. With Shaun Bailey struggling to find consistency at either end the hosts
struggled to nail down any part of the innings and only Jack Houghton had notable figures of 8o 1m 36r 3w. Wickets apiece for
Scott Jackson, Andy Mortimer, Dan Beechey and Tim Hills. West Ham closed on 273-7 off their 40 overs.
The Hosts began their chase poorly with Dan Beechey falling early in the third over, and a procession of James Lavender (5),
Howard Bancroft (0) and Tim Hills (5) followed shortly after by Dev Patel (4), the hosts were praying for a miracle from
Scott Jackson who has rumbled along to 35 at the other end of the collapse. However he was the fourth to fall and in a
playing environment made unnecessarily difficult by the constant chatter and arguments in the outfield, concentration was
severely hampered. Havering were 55-6 in no time but then the tail rallied with Mortimer (36), Houghton (19) and a
swashbuckling knock for Shaun Bailey fighting a dogged rearguard, they put some respectability back on the score board.
When Bailey finally fell in the 32nd over Havering were all out for 177 losing by 97 runs.
Dan Beechey led the Sunday side this week for Haverings first look at the division leaders Wickford. Winning the toss on a
good wicket and in fine conditions Havering batted first against, what turned out to be a very accomplished bowling attack
and excellent fielding unit. Dan Beechey and Scott Jackson opened and the former run of poor form continued as he played
across the third ball of the innings pulling the ball onto his stumps. Emma Honey soon followed. having edged a boundary, she
was then caught behind shortly after. Tim Hills then looked for a quick single off his third ball and Scott Jackson looked a
little slow setting off and was run out with the score on 4-3 in the 3rd over. New man into the side Howard Bancroft and Tim
then looked to settle and repair the innings with Tim striking freely in an aggressive counter attacking innings. But when
Bancroft went LBW for 1 and Tim bowled for 35 it again looked on the middle and lower order to put some respectability to the
scoreboard. James Lavender (18), Ian Connelly (26) and Shaun Bailey (22) all played sensible and determined innings against a
quality bowling attack and with Jack Houghton refreshed from a week away holding up the other end Havering had picked up to
147 when Mitchell Walker, who had doggedly kept out the impressive Australian paceman Pockmahn was finally bowled for 1 and
the innings ended in the 29th over.
The defence of the low total started in perfect style with Jack Houghton steaming in from the field end and removing Mckann
with his last ball of his first over with only a single on the board. Scott Jackson, at the other end, was economical though
not entirely threatening and in tandem they looked to keep the handbrake on the Wickford innings. Scott finished 0-17 off 5
overs and Houghton 1-26 off his 6 with several edges and some very good short bowling of varying pace. Skipper Danny Beechey
took over from Jackson and was starting to find his bowling rhythm, beating the bat several times. It was the Wickford batsman
Stace who ended up putting the hosts to the sword with a bludgeoning 86 not out and finishing the innings with a flourish,
although well tied down from time to time hitting straight drives to break the shackles and get himself going again, dealing
mainly in boundaries. Havering kept working hard and the spirit was good but the target to defend too small. A brief highlight
was their new player Ian Connelly bowling 2.2 overs 1-8 and removing the other opener Carey LBW for 45 and bowling in good areas.
Mitchell Walkers bad luck with the ball continued still getting his ripping leg spin in good areas and with Stace dropped
twice and two missed stumpings all off Walker it is easy to see how he feels his own confidence is low. Wickford reached
their target in the 25th over for the loss of just 2 wickets. Haverings troubles in Division 3 continue with only two to
play, losing today by 8 wickets.
Tim Hills Sunday side finally came home after several weeks away or off and a nightmare full of selection and availability
and league concerns. All troubles gone for the day with a relaxed friendly against Chingford. Tim won the toss and elected to
field. Opening the bowling with Dan Beechey and Shaun Bailey, things did not start well for the hosts. After 4 overs the
score already on 30 and Danny struggling with his run up. Tom Gentle was asked to bowl one over to help the openers change
ends and he took a wicket straight away, but the change of ends did not work for Danny who came off after his third over
still struggling for form. Tom Gentle came back and again took a wicket, but runs still flowed freely for the opposition and
off 15 overs they were already 86-2. Mitchell Walker and Andy Mortimer then came into the attack and both were very unlucky
not to take several wickets each but they also did a job of pegging back the visitors, who were looking set to post 250 plus.
At the end of their spells the openers returned along with Reece Beechey who took two late wickets and all in all a good
containing job was done, with Chingford restricted to 223-6 off their 40 overs.
Haverings openers the Beechey boys, Danny and Reece, then set about setting up a thrilling run chase, and although Reece went
early (8), Danny kept going. Joined by Emma Honey (25) they put on 40 for the second wicket before Danny padded up to
Macgregor and was adjudged LBW for 21. James Lavender could not add to his previous days work and went for a duck and Tim
Hills came to the crease with Emma still at the other end. The pair put on 53, with Tim showing some good form and clean
striking and was looking well set before playing across a short pitched off break that stayed low and struck his pads, LBW
for 35 with the score 130-4 in the 24th over. Havering still believed, and with plenty of talent still waiting, the run chase
heated up. Tom Gentle raised the tension even more with a big hitting 39 before being caught behind by the sharp glove work
of Joyce. Still 26 runs needed with only a couple of overs to go and Ollie Williams went in, hit 12 runs in 5 balls and was
caught, Shaun Bailey (2) unlucky to be run out when Mortimer (18no) did not support the call for an apparently easy single
and it came down to Mitchell Walker having to go out in the last over with 10 runs needed. He hooked off his first ball and
ran two before being called one short and the pressure was then back on. Mortimer needed to hit the last ball for 6 to tie
the game and it was well bowled and only a single could be taken. Havering lost by 5 runs but a very close, well fought and
well matched contest.
Havering-atte-Bower CC held its first T/20 interclub competition as part of its 150th celebrations at Upminster Hall, home of
the 3rds & 4ths. The weather looked dodgy at first but brightened up later. Four teams were selected from club players and
family. The captains for the day were Ben Leworthy, Tim Hills, Tom Gentle and Lee Rhodes & they selected their sides with
balance as we had all levels from 1st team to non players. Each side had 20 overs and had an hour to bowl them as we had 3
games and a curry to fit in. The music played as fours were hit and wickets fell. Things got under way at around 12.45pm. We
stopped for curry at 4.30pm and restarted at 5.30pm. The final became a 10 over match as it was starting to get late. All who
took part and watched had a really good day. Some 100 overs were bowled with almost 600 runs being scored, 50 fours were
struck and 2 sixes in a competitive afternoon. The final was between Bens Team and Lees Team with Lees team winning by 2 runs.

Havering Sunday side finally took to the field for a league game this season away at newly promoted Essex Carriers. Having
been awarded wins from their two previous fixtures with opposition pulling out late, they were put to the sword by an
accomplished looking side.
Tim Hills won the toss and elected to bat with three Saturday first teamers at the top of the order. Dan Beechey partnered
Scott Jackson and both looked comfortable on a flat track against a quality looking bowling attack, Danny hit a wonderful on
drive through mid wicket before being bowled by a fuller one for 6. Andy Lazenby went in and watched Scott hit some superb
shots off the short ball including a four followed next ball by a huge six before he then mistimed one to be out on 18.
Jack Houghton could not add to his recent good batting form being bowled for a blob and Tim Hills came out with the score on
42-3 in the twelfth over. The pair then had to knuckle down as the bowling changes brought on a very tidy left arm spinner
and the scoreboard stalled somewhat. Andy looked at home working the ball through mid on several times and Tim also struck a
tidy brace of boundaries and the two put on 33 before the skipper played on for a hard fought 12. Russell Harley did a fine
job and is really establishing himself with the bat playing very straight more often than not and scored an entertaining 15
before he was caught behind off the faintest of edges, and Andy Lazenby finally fell, bowled playing back to a length ball
from Ali who had tied down the innings very well. Devendra Patel and new boy Mike Samuel barely added to the score but a good
effort from Shaun Bailey and Adam Winder added 20 more before Bailey was run out by a direct hit, Mitchell Walker gave the
powerful Adam Winder the strike as much as possible but having to go for his shots Adam holed out to the deep for 11 and the
visitors were all out for 126 off 36.2 overs.
Ever determined to defend small targets Havering took to the field with Adam Winder back opening the bowling with the ever
energetic Shaun Bailey. Both started fairly well but an early breakthrough was crucial and despite some edges and misses
particularly off Adam it seemed luck was not on Haverings side at all. Shaun was expensive in his fourth over and was
replaced by Mitchell Walker who straight away started hitting his areas. Both openers were tempted several times by the leg
spinner but could not get him away, Jack Houghton replaced Adam Winder and also looked to pass the bat several times but
still the wicket would not come and with a short boundary and a left hand right hand opening pair the runs were still coming
for the hosts. Scott Jackson and Andy Lazenby came into the attack with Tim Hills desperate for a couple of wickets for his
side to pick themselves back up and three figures almost up on the scoreboard. Scott Jackson got it with a pull shot caught
by Jack Houghton at mid wicket, Warner the left hander finally out having looked the tidier of the openers for 45 and just
about job done. Andy Lazenby then got Sumansukera playing across the line for the umpteenth time and losing his middle
stump for 49. Havering gritted their teeth to keep grinding out the work but with a drop catch and mis-field the new pair
knocked off the final few runs off 22.5 overs and the game was over, Essex Carriers winning by 8 wickets.
This game was called off as Burnham Sports were unable to field a side.
Havering-Atte-Bower celebrated on Sunday with the first event of the 150th year. The Gentle Family XI played the Havering
Salad Dodgers in aid of The British Heart Foundation. The Salad Dodgers, captained by Mick Houghton batted first and scored
267. Dave Roe(56 ret) opened with Andrew Dent(20) who put on 54 for the first wicket Ollie Williams(41) followed then came
Jack Houghton (62 ret) and Tim Hills(34).
In reply Colin Gentles side got off to a good start opening with Darren (42) and Bradley Tollon (45) Alex followed (52 no)
but wickets fell at the other end and the Gentle XI finished on 194. So the Dodgers won by 73 runs. The event attracted some
80-100 people and whilst watching cricket there was a Bar-b-que, raffle and other fund raising activities. As part of our
celebrations we wanted to raise some funds for charity & on the day we raised £813 with sponsorship yet to be received we
should make our target £1000.
Tim Hills took his Sunday side away to play Pegasus & Corringham at Herd Lane this week. Tim lost the toss and was put in to
bat by the hosts and the regular pairing of Scott Jackson and Dan Beechey finally got a partnership, seeing the ball well in
almost fairytale conditions brining up a fifty partnership. With the score on 51 however Scott was LBW for 23 and last minute
stand in Mark Butler came out showing early intent. Danny was next to go, playing his favourite flick off his legs only to
middle the ball down fine legs throat for 42. A first Sunday outing of the season for Andy Lazenby kept the momentum going as
he played looking like a man in form with Mark Butler until suddenly the innings took a dramatic turn. With the score on 100
in the 18th over Mark was LBW for 12, Andy was caught for 25 and two balls later Tim Hills was caught for 4. In the next over
Dev Patel was bowled for 0 and the score was reduced to 119-6. Jack Houghton looked steady and with Russell Harley, they put
on 51 for the seventh wicket, Jack doing most of the damage before Russell was out for 16. Mark Chinnery (5) supported Jack
until he was bowled and the tail were doing a perfect job of supporting Jack to bring the Havering total to 196-8 off 35
overs. Jack then reached a fine half century in style with a boundary and now with the ever energetic Shaun Bailey supporting,
Jack. After reaching his landmark, Jack used the next twelve balls to reach 94, hitting three sixes in a row in the 39th over
before finally being clean bowled. It was massive effort getting Havering to 254-9. It was a breathtaking performance by
Jack Houghton and the lower order.
Jack Houghton opened the bowling but appeared to be suffering after his earlier efforts and in the searing heat went for 28
runs off three overs. Shaun Bailey opening at the other end however was as active as ever taking the first wicket caught
behind by keeper Russell Harley who was using Mark Butlers gloves because they were more expensive than his own! Havering
then began to dominate the day with regular bowling changes in the heat and wickets falling regularly. Dan Beechey showed
fine rhythm taking 3-12 off his five overs, Scott Jackson took two in two balls and narrowly missed the hatrick finishing on
2-2 off four. Mark Chinnery came back well after a loose start and in two spells finished 2-33 off 6.3 overs. Bailey also
used two spells and was looking very good finishing 2-26 off eight, including a fine high catch into the sun by new man Paul
Leggatt. Tim Hills brought himself on later in the day but was ineffective with his part time off spin but Devendra Patel had
a wonderful moment taking his first wicket for the season finishing 1-12 off three overs when he bowled Penny who had fought
an impressive rearguard action. The hosts were finally all out with a catch by the skipper for 132 off 33.3 overs. A perfect
day in a wonderful setting for cricket and a brilliant and dominant win by Havering to boot very well set up by man of the match
Jack Houghton.
Havering Sunday side should have played their first 2010 Sunday League game this week against Downham, but midweek the
opposition conceded the fixture and so local based Anson St George CC visited Broxhill Road in a friendly. Home side skipper
Tim Hills lost the toss and was put into bat. Dan Beechey and Scott Jackson opened the innings yet again looking to build an
opening stand. It was not to be as Dan Beechey was LBW for a duck. Jack Houghton, promoted to 3 and together with Scott, the
innings progressed. Scott Jackson struck the boundaries as Jack was watchful and timing the ball well until he was tempted to
follow a wider ball from McTaggert and edged to the keeper for 10. Former Sunday skipper Lee Rhodes, who has been noticeably
struggling for runs for over a season looked very determined to secure himself in the middle. Both batsmen then looked very
cautious in building an innings and between the tenth and twentieth over only 37 runs, which included Scott pushing his way
to a well battled 50. After drinks were taken both batsmen looked more relaxed as they got the measure of the wicket Lee began
to expand, pulling successive boundaries on more than one occasion and reached an extremely well fought and determined half
century. When Lee fell at 167 there were barely six overs remaining and Tim Hills came out with the intention of pushing the
score on and keeping Scott company. He reached his century with an enormous six over the bowlers head and some deft cutting
to the ropes. Once his landmark was met the intention was to push the total to a safer margin but Tim (7) mistimed a wide
ball straight at the cover fielder, and a collapse soon followed. Scott was finally undone by yet another ball that kept very
low and he was bowled for 110. The rain came and killed any bounce, and made scoring difficult as Havering were all out for
192. Rain continued to fall during tea and only 1.2 overs were possible in reply before the game was abandoned.
Man of the Match for Havering, Scott Jackson for a wonderful century and special mention for Lee Rhodes for a perfect half
century.
Havering Sunday side continued good early season form this week with a strong away win at Basildon & Pitsea. On a bare and
damp looking track with all sorts of issues, Havering skipper Tim Hills lost the toss and Havering were put into bat.
Dan Beechey (16) opened with Scott Jackson and immediately set about taking control, driving the first ball of the match
through extra cover for a boundary and then two towering sixes, both stopping off the pitch and checking his shots but still
with the power to find the boundary. Scott Jackson pulled across the line at a straight full toss for a second ball duck and
not long after Dev Patel turned for a tight second run and was run out for just 1. Skipper Tim Hills went out at 43-3 and
with Russell Harley set about repairing the poor start. Russell Harley has now impressed for a second time at no.3 and was
disappointed to pull across the line of a slower ball early to top edge to the in-field but with a respectable 28. Jack
Houghton and Tim Hills then built a good partnership, scoring freely with a mixed bag of bowling and added 66 for the 5th
wicket, Jack was bowled for 23 but Tim kept going to his 50 and beyond, briefly joined by Shaun Bailey (0) and Mike Roe (14).
Tim was bowled for 68 and with Mark Chinnery (20) and Adam Winder (10) keeping the momentum going, Havering were finally
bowled out for 201. The side were more than happy with that total on that wicket and went to set about defending it with
relish.
Jack Houghton and Adam Winder opened the bowling with a devastating spell keeping it very tight and quite literally blowing
away the home sides top order. Jack was quick and accurate with his left arm seam bowling and Adam bowled a spell almost
entirely comprised of pacey Yorkers that the hosts simply could not get away. Adams figures were incredibly 4o 4m 0r 1w but
he did the damage supporting Jack who clean bowled three of the top five to finish with 5o 1m 10r 3w. Mitchell Walker then
came into the attack and despite some early loose deliveries he found his rythem and maintained some awesome form to carry
on a very successful early season. With some accurate drifting left spin bowling he too got among the wickets and bowling
with Shaun Bailey Havering were soon going for the jugular with the hosts floundering on 24-7. Walker 7o 3m 8r 2w and Bailey
4o 0m 12r 2w. This bowling attack have really hit their marks with the league starting next week. Dev Patel was given a
chance to get into the game and enjoyed himself with 3o 0m 4r 0w and Scott Jackson bowling just three balls before the final
wicket fell to a run out with the total on 48.
Man of the match for Havering Jack Houghton for his competent batting and blistering bowling efforts.
A comfortable win by 153 runs.
Havering Sunday XI followed up their first friendly of the season with yet another pre-season Home Friendly against Westcliff-
on-Sea, Havering won the toss and elected to field.
Jack Houghton and Adam Winder opened the account against 10 man Westcliff with some tight lines and good lengths but were
short of luck as edges flew over slips for four and both opening batsmen getting dropped fairly early. Both J. Gregory and S.
Watts looked dominant with a quick flurry partnership of 70 with some very potent shots on display. A bowling change at both
ends proved effective as Danny Beechey dislodged both openers Gregory for 26 and Watts for 40, and Scott Jackson bowled a
neat spell as well. As runs dried up for Westcliff, Barham dug deep to keep the scoreboard ticking with excellent spells
from both Mitchell Walker and Mark Chinnery doing exactly what was asked. Mark struck first taking 2 in 2 balls to dismiss
Barham for 37 and Fraiser for 8. Mitchell finished with figures of 8 overs 3-36 and Mark 6 overs 3-18 proving that line and
length was vital to kill the run flow. And with Havering improving their catching with sharp catches from Russell Harley
behind the stumps and Jack Houghton in the covers, the writing was on the wall for Westcliffas they finished on 157 for 9
after 36.4 overs. Adam Winder took 1-26 off 6.4 overs.
In Reply openers Eddie Wallace and Kevin Thain gave Havering a good solid start with a partnership of 77 off 20 overs before
Eddie was stumped for 30 just before drinks. Reece Beechey joined Kevin in the middle and waisted no time in setting about
the bowling attack with a devastating 45 off 27 balls and along with Kevin (73no) took Havering over the finish line in the
27th over.
A good all round performance from Havering as they won by 9 wickets.
Havering Sunday side opened their 2010 season with a home friendly against Leyton Nomads. The visitors won the toss and
elected to bat first. The team selected was a strong looking one for the hosts and provided the luxury of several established
opening bowlers. Jack Houghton and Sean Bailey opened the attack but it was immediately clear that the wicket was going to
misbehave as well as the openers finding their early rhythm. A string of extras and loose short balls provided the visitors
with a strong start, Gratton in particular top scoring with 81. The breakthrough came however with Choudhury bowled by a sharp
looking Michael Richardson for a tidy 46 in the 19th over. From then on Michael Richardson and Mitchell
Walker from the road end bowled in tandem to tie down the innings. Mitchell bowled a good spell with some fine leg
breaks and finished 8 overs 1-43. Michael excelled from the field end and capitalised on his initial breakthrough to finish
8 overs 3-25. Reece Beechey came on after Mitchell was bowled out and after an initial loose start eventually struck hard and
in a brief four over spell took 2-26 which helped take the middle order out. Finally Jack Houghton came back to finish off the
innings and took a deserved wicket finishing 1-32. Unfortunately the extras were hugely damaging with 64 and in the end would
prove fatal for the hosts. Leyton Nomads closed on 269-7 off 40 overs.
The Havering reply was steady and the opening pair of Scott Jackson and new vice captain Danny Beechey began the big chase
but Danny holed out in the 8th over for just 15 with the score on 29. Havering were well aware of last seasons failings with
the bat and a steady recovery was vital. Russell Harley was promoted to 3 and did not let down the side. He was solid and
appeared highly dependable and although only scoring 10 it came off 40 balls as he was ever watchful against a threatening
bowling attack, he supported Scott Jackson who built on his start to go on to 64 before he played on. When Russell finally
fell, Reece Beechey looked to follow up his impressive bowling display. Joined by skipper Tim Hills who hit a brisk 29, Reece
saw partners fall at the other end but played faultlessly to end 54 not out. Jack Houghton came in with only a handful of
overs left and still around 80 runs short and he got stuck in with relish smashing a lively 24. No further wickets fell and
Havering closed their 40 over innings on 219-7, 51 short of the target.
It was then that the earlier extras really proved to be the difference and something that need to be improved on to make the
Sunday XI competitive this year.
Reece Beechey was voted Havering man of the match by the players in the dressing room following the game.
