Last of the group games saw Havering travel to their local rivals Upminster. Skipper Ryan Hurley won the toss & decided
to put Upminster into bat. Tom Hine soon made a breakthrough with the score on 7. Wickets then fell at regular intervals
to leave Upminster at 120 for 6. However a 7th wicket stand of 56 helped Upminster achieve 179 for 7 at the end of their
40 overs, helped largely by 34 extras of which for the 2nd week running 21 were wides.
In reply Havering got of to the worst possible start when Ryan Hurley was out LBW 3rd ball fo a duck. This proved
decisive as Tom Mitchell batting at 3 was dismissed soon after for 4 to leave Havering on 5 for 2. A 3rd wicket stand of
63 between Tom Gentle & opener Reece Beechey restored some respectibility to the score. Gentle was the next to fall for
30 with the score on 68. Beechey continued with keeper Ollie Williams with a 46 partnership for the 4th wicket before

to 140 before Williams was bowled for 3. Tom Hobborugh followed soon after without troubling the scorers to leave
Havering on 140 for 6. Only 40 was required with 10 overs left & 4 wickets in hand. Gale was next out for 24 with the
score on 152. Havering then lost their 8th wicket with the score on 166 & their remaining 2 wicket with the score on 168
to lose by 11 runs & give Upminster their 1st win in the group stages.
In summary a bad loss, but not the worst team we have played against. The amount of extras conceeded made all the
difference in the end Havering giving away 34 extras (21 wides), compared to Upminster 17 extras (8 wides). The need for
having practice facilities available at the home ground was never more highlighted than in these figures.
Havering ended their U16 Matchplay campaign with 24 points from 9 games (5 wins & 4 defeats). This is by far the best
ever performance by one of our teams in this county competition. Its just a shame, that more members did not turn up at
some stage during the tournament to acknowledge these efforts & support the colts.

side a solid start to their innings. Havering first four bowlers, although not expensive, were wicketless, but a double

Rhys Ager took Havering to within touching distance of the finish line. However fine bowling from Hornchurch took the game
to the very exciting last over and when Havering needed 2 runs off the last ball, they fell 1 run short losing what can
only be described as a great spectacle of cricket to which both teams involved should be proud to have taken part in.
Havering U15s began their season with a hard fought match at Goresbrook on Wednesday night.
Goresbrook won the toss and chose to bat. The opening bowlers for Havering were Reece Beechey 3overs 0-10 and Rhys Ager
4 overs 0-14 bowled tight lines for their overs restricting Gorsbrook to 28 off 7 overs, before the captain Reece Beechey
had to leave the field after injuring his back at the end of his third over. The bowling became wayward and too short and
the fielding ordinary to allow Goresbrook to finish their 20 overs on 149-3.

to act as runner for Reece Beechey who came to the wicket with the score on 5 for 1 off the first over. He and Ollie
