Havering Sunday side played Three Caps on their second friendly visit of the season to Broxhill Road. Havering skipper Tim Hills lost the toss and Three Caps elected to bat first. Haverings attack started with Dan Beechey and Jack Houghton and immediately Dan in particular hit the right spots asking questions of the openers technique, beating the bat and stifling the runs against a lineup well known for liking to attack early and score big runs from the start. The number 2 bat Karim struggled, & Dan had him glove one behind for a duck. The hard work by the openers continued and on 10 overs the visitors were only 42-1. Dan finished a superb spell with 5o 1m 9r 1w and Jack a little unlucky with some edges 5o 0m 25r 0w. Reece Beechey and Andy Mortimer then came into the attack and young Reece continued the work of his older brother taking 4-18 off his first 4 over spell, a good LBW shout took the opener who had looked compact and solid for 28, then two catches in the inner field before he finally removing the danger man Lall who had started to expand his shots for a decent 42, bowling him as he advanced down the wicket. Reece came back later to try for his 5th wicket but finished on 5o 1m 18r 4w. Andy Mortimer was a little less successful, still taking two wickets but struggled with his lines and conceded several boundaries on the leg side and finishing 8o 0m 46r 2w. Ryan Hurley bowled his left arm wrist spin and tied up his end nicely and finished with 5o 1m 15r 2w. Finally debutant Simon Trowse came on with the score on 118-9 and he took the final wicket by bowling Jagatiya for a duck and the visitors finished on a surprisingly low 131 all out off 29.5 overs.
In reply Havering opened the batting with Kevin Thain and Mark Joyce. Minhal had Kevin playing forward and gloving one to gulley for 5. Peter Thain replaced his Dad and was LBW second ball for a duck. Dev Patel and Tim Hills followed shortly afterwards, both for ducks. Young Simon Trowse then walked out for his first bat as a Havering player and did not disappoint. He played straight and sensibly and stuck around for the opening bowling attack to finish. Mark Joyce, however, who had so far seen all the wickets fall was then bowled. Dan Beechey lost his stumps to the change bowler but Andy Trowse kept pushing the ball around until he fell for 10. Jack Houghton was the only real resistance with the bat crashing big sixes and finally being last man out bowled for 21. The early fall did for the hosts who despite other efforts from Ryan Hurley (9) and Andy Mortimer (12) and then at the death Reece Beechey (6no) Havering were bowled out for 109 off 36.2 overs and lost by 22 runs.
On Sunday Havering-atte-Bower held its annual Dads v Sons game followed by Bar-B-Que and Race night to raise funds for the club. This year the Sons were too strong for the Adults scoring 247 off of 30 overs and winning by 23 runs. A good day was had by all and the club raise some well needed funds.
Having lost the toss & were asked to bowl on a glorious day at Broxhill Road. Dan Beechey started very well with line and length with Adam Winder starting from the road end. However it soon became clear that the outfield was like lightening and with a short boundary, anything in the gaps went to the boundary. With 4 overs gone it was already 26-0 for the visitors with S Blackman in particular looking very good. The Havering openers then started to gain control again but a big tenth over meant it was 50-0 and the bowling change was made. Mark Chinnery came on from the road end for Winder (5o, 0m, 29r, 0w) and in his second over he trapped Hodgson LBW for 26. With the breakthrough however, the runs continued and Blackman went to a smooth a controlled 50. William Waine then replaced Chinnery at the road end and in his first over took Grobler, caught by Tim Hills at mid on for 14. And with Waine and Luke Dyerson bowling in tandem the breaks were put on with good effect, both bowlers bowled straight through their 8 overs, Dyerson as reliable as ever without reward, Waine was especially good with the short boundary behind him and finished 8o, 1m, 46r, 2w. He soon took his second and the home side were amongst the wickets at last. Early in J Batchelors innings he played and missed outside his crease and Havering keeper Mark Joyce threw down the stumps with Batchelor still turning round, he walked but was called back by the umpire and the innings continued. Blackman however could not be broken down and he notched up his second century of the season against Havering and after the landmark went on all out attack, advancing to Mark Chinnery (5o, 0m, 44r, 1w) before finaly being found out by Sean Bailey playing over the top of one and losing his middle stump. Bailey had now changed ends and looked far more comfortable finally finishing 6o, 0,m, 35r, 2w. Dan Beechey came back on for the last two from the road and showed his class at the lower order taking three wickets in his last over to finish the visitors innings 236-8 off their 40 overs, the highlight being Blackman with his 130.
Havering had a few regular Sunday players missing and the order looked a little different. Recent addition to their ranks Mark Joyce was promoted to opener and he took his chance well. He and Dan Beechey knew the 237 target was gettable, but a steady start was needed. Beechey went to the thinest of edges in the 7th over caught behind and walked without being given. But from there Havering started to hit problems, each incoming batsmen struggled to get a partnership with Joyce, who thankfully kept going well. Mortimer (12), Reece Beechey (11), and Tim Hills (6) could not stay in long. Young Ollie Williams did however stay with Joyce for some time and partnered him to his first 50 for the club, but Williams fell soon after caught behind. Adam Winder (13) and Luke Dyerson (4) tried to get going but forcing the issue was always hard and both fell with Joyce looking like he may carry his bat, but he fell in the 36th over with the score on 180-8. Mark Chinnery and Sean Bailey then had a dash and found the boundary a few times but with the final over starting Havering were still 28 short. Both batsmen went hard at the ball and hit two maximums in the last over, scoring 22 off it. But it was all in vain as Havering lost by 6 runs, closer than it could have been by quite a distance.
Having lost the toss and were put into bat and following a positive start, opener Dan Beechey was caught in the 3rd over for 8 Andy Mortimer, initially struggled with the exceptional bowling of the visitors but once the openers were seen off he started to play more freely and looked comfortable. However when Devendra Patel fell in the 20th over the score was 69-3 and Havering knew they needed to consolidate their reasonable start and keep the run rate up. The next 7 overs brought just 21 runs and when the skipper Tim Hills came in the score was 90-4 with less than 13 overs remaining. Mortimer then fell LBW for a well constructed 47 and Havering knew with ten overs to go and still 5 wickets in hand, the pace needed to be raised. Hills tried and hit 24 off just 14 balls including two big sixes but he was bowled when he advanced down the wicket. Havering were now 137-6 with just 6 overs remaining. Havering would have targeted well over 200 at the start but now anything close to that was looking tough to get. A patient 26 from the Sunday sides new wicket keeper Mark Joyce and young Jack Houghton scoring 17 and the home side finally finished 177-9 off their 40 overs.
Havering opened their bowling with Dan Beechey and Jack Houghton who both bowled with good pace and in good areas but the Rayleigh Fairview openers went at the new ball hard and while the bowlers found the edges on numerous occasions, they ball simply flew past fielders or over them and frustrated the home side. On 15 overs the score was already 80 without loss and Luke Dyerson and Mark Chinnery now looked like they had stemmed the flow of runs. Luke Dyerson then struck by clean bowling Keating for 41 Mark Chinnery followed that by trapping Webster LBW for a duck and in the next over Dyerson had his second, again getting an LBW. Dyerson continued to bowl well and finished with 8 overs 2-22 and Havering started to feel they were capable of getting the result. Andy Mortimer joined in the attack and straight away hit his marks with one run coming from his first 2 overs and in his fourth getting 2 in 2 balls. Scott Jackson supported him from the other end and he soon removed two more in consecutive balls in his second over leaving the Fairview on 156-7 with 8 overs left. Havering tried to restrict the Fairview opener and captain Lawson, who had seen it all happen the other end, and attack the tailenders but in the 35th over, Lawson lifted one back over Mortimers head for a boundary that sealed the victory for the visitors and condemned Havering to relegation to the third division on the Warsop Stebbing Essex Sunday League.

Havering opened with Dan Beechey and Adam Winder and both had a decent spell, restricting the runs but not getting a breakthrough despite beating the bat several times, Beechey in particular had a tidy spell finishing with 5o 1m 7r 0w. Winder was slightly loose but still respectable with a return of 4o 2m 12r 0w. Sean Bailey came into the attack and unusually for him started poorly with 19 runs going from his first 2 overs with no result. Luke Dyerson came on at the other end and also had a poor start with the batting side 54-0 off 12 overs. Dyerson collected himself well and in his second over took two in two and by the end of his third over had his third wicket with the batting side reeling on 64-3 off 15 overs. Dyerson then bowled three maidens on the trot and was well supported by Bailey who had now eased into his spell and found his rythem with his next three overs going for just 4 runs and he also weighed in with two wickets. Both bowled out and Bailey finished with 8o 1m 45r 2w and Dyerson a superb 8o 5m 17r 3w including opener Sleet (37) who had been the only man to stay in and score decent runs. Scott Jackson came on from the road end and bowled a quite superb spell and the wickets kept falling and bowling in tandem with Andy Mortimer both tied down the batsmen further still and the result was all but certain, Tom Mitchell, a Havering player helping out the visitors who had turned up one short scoring a breezy 23 with some fine shots despite good natured banter from the home side in the field. With him gone Maylands Green had slumped to 103-6 off 28 overs. Mortimer and Jackson then mopped up the tail and Jackson ended the game bowling the 8 year old M Hayward, with a delicate slow ball. Maylands Green all out for 121 off 36 overs, Luke Dyerson had taken 3 catches in the field to add to his bowling effort and was awarded man of the match. Havering had turned in a very good performance and were clinical in controlling and dominating the game in all areas.

Having won the toss and Captain Tim Hills elected to put Hockley into bat on a damp pitch with a weather forecast suggesting bright sunshine and blue skies all day. Tight opening spells by Tom Moffat and Dan Beechey for the home side meant that the Hockley openers could not get away despite intent from BALL who repeatedly came down the track to both bowlers. After no break through the attack changed and Mark Chinnery and Sean Bailey bowled in tandem and again kept things tight. Ball was dropped twice before being taken by a stunning one handed diving catch by Dan Beechey at point. Foster went on to an impressive and disciplined 65 before he was eventually removed by Tom Moffat who had him caught by Dan Beechey, again, although this was a simpler chance. Throughout the innings despite 5 dropped catches Havering fielded very tightly. Luke Dyerson at cover was always in business forcing the batsmen to hurry but despite several attempts the fielding side could not hit the stumps. Finally the innings closed on 172-5 off 40 overs with Tom Moffat returning fine figures of 8o 2m 16r 1w.
Havering set off in pursuit of the target and in the opening overs Andy Lazenby in particular was clearly in aggressive mood and was hitting firm shots straight down the ground, clearly a man still in fine batting form. Dan Beechey fell first to a superb delivery that climbed sharply on him and he was caught to a thin edge to the keeper. Lee Rhodes followed shortly after to an LBW decision that some felt may have been a little high but a mini collapse was on and Devendra Patel played well against some tough bowling before he went for 12 bowled by the impressive Baker. Tim Hills and Andy Lazenby then set about building a partnership but Tim holed out to mid off after a brisk 21, Andy Lazenby hit a big 6 and was then bowled leaving Havering 90-5 in the 17th over. Three more Havering wickets then fell before the hundred came up and the writing was on the wall. Sean Baily (14), Mark Chinnery (10no) and Tom Moffat (13) all tried to hang on but Tom was the last to fall with Havering on 151 off 29.5 overs. Only Andy Lazenby really showed resistance with the bat as Havering lost by 5 wickets and are still bottom of the table, needing to win one out of the last two games of the season now to avoid relegation.

Havering hosted the annual Roger Anderson memorial match at Broxhill Road on Sunday.
With an all star cast, and a few young ringers from Haverings youth, the Old Boys were full of confidence to register their first win for 4 years. Helping them on the way was Havering skipper, Luke Dyerson, who elected to bat first, despite having to negotiate a wet wicket which had just absorbed a heavy downpour half an hour earlier. The wicket was predicably hostile, and Havering were soon 57-5 with Rob Archer and Mike Richardson sharing the spoils. Joe Moffat, who had been in excellent form with the bat, was bowled 2nd ball by Mike Richardson. Andy Lazenby held firm, and continued his good form from the day before, and he was joined by Danny Keylock. Together they put on 123 playing some fine shots. Andy was especially brutal on Neil Johnson & Simon Storrar whilst Danny took a liking to ex-skipper Mark Collins. Andy was eventually caught at first slip by Collins, his trademark one handed take from a ball which would have crossed the boundary one bounce. Danny fell soon after and it was left to Jack Hurley and Reece Beechey to push the Havering total to 254-7
In reply, Havering opened up with 13 year old Reece Beechey and Mark Chinnery. They took 2 wickets each as the Old Boys struggled to gain control. Danny Wallace (34) & Frazer Jeffries (24) were the only real contributors as they struggled to 78-6 & staring at a heavy defeat. However, when Tom Moffat joined Rob Archer, they started putting bat to ball. Rob lofted the ball over the infield, and Tom's cut shots helped them put on 91 in short time. Rob was eventually caught in the deep by Luke Dyerson off Reece Beechey for 48. Tom made his maiden 50 but was then bowled by Reece Beechey and the tail succumbed to 198-11 (They had 12 men)
Havering won a highly entertaining game (albeit very windy) by 56 runs.
Skipper Jack Hurley decided to bowl first. Silver Titans notched up a total of 183-10 from 37.1 overs. Luke Dyerson 8-1-16-2, Michael Roe 8-48-2, Jack Houghton 7.1-1-23-2 and Dan Beechey 7-1-11-1 were the pick of the bowlers.
Silver Titrans opening bowler Raja took some early wickets for the Titans, but resistance put on from Andrew Lazenby 51*, Peter Thain 41 and Dan Keylock 30 gave Havering a chance of winning. However some tight bowling by The Titans restricted Havering and they were all out 23 runs short.
Havering finally got their first win of the campaign in a home game against Old Chelmsfordians, and in the process were witness to a truly memorable bowling performance by 16 year old Adam Winder.
Havering won the toss and put the OC’s in to bat. The OC’s began strongly scoring 30 off the first five overs without incident. Adam Winder began his third over, with his first ball he clean bowled Scarfe for a brisk 22. With his second ball to the incoming batsmen he found the edge for a catch at gulley and on a hat-trick with the fielding side massed round the bat, found another edge and a catch at second slip confirmed the landmark three wickets in three balls. Adam was not finished and the fourth ball of the same over was full and fast and clipped the base of the off stump for four wickets in four balls. Havering were buoyant and full of noise in the field and Adam finished off the over with yet more superb pace bowling, both tucking the batsmen up and beating the bat but not finding the edge. With Dan Beechey getting his lines right at the other end, Adam came back to start his next over with the score on 31-4. He carried on by clean bowling Pruce with his first ball, a slip catch second ball and on a second hatrick then bowled Lee around his legs to complete seven wickets in nine balls. It was an awesome and special display, every ball was in the right area, Adam was hitting the pitch hard and continued to beat the batsmen for the remainder of his spell and finished with figures of 8 overs 2mds 19runs 7wkts. The OC’s were bowled all out for 134 off 34.2 overs with a wicket each for Dan Beechey, Mark Chinnery and David Roe.
Havering then set about their run chase with Dan Beechey and Jack Hurley looking at ease against the OC’s bowling attack racing along to 60 before Jack played a late cut into gulleys hands. Earlier in the season Havering were skittled for 75 at the OC’s chasing a low total and this was still fresh in everyones mind. Havering captain Tim Hills went out to join Dan Beechey who then continued his recent fine Sunday form and went to a clean and impressive half century off 36 balls. Tim and Dan saw Havering to their target, the winning runs coming from the skipper with a drive through extra cover for his fourth boundary and Havering to a tidy 136-2 off 16 overs with Dan finishing on 68no, comfortably getting their first league victory of the summer by 8 wickets.
Havering lost the toss and OC’s decided to bat. Havering had a slightly weaker bowling attack for this one but nevertheless started well bowling good tight lines and not letting the batsmen score freely on a true looking wicket. The early breakthrough came when Sean Bailey had Lee caught behind for just 2 in the 2nd over. From then on Havering kept good pressure up and began to take wickets. The OC’s never looked comfortable batting and wickets fell regularly with no real partnerships forming. Each bowler used took one, special mention for Luke Dyerson who toiled away in the heat and bowled his 8 overs conceding just 12 runs but only claiming the one wicket. Part time spinners Andy Lazenby and Tim Hills also took 2 wickets each but the pick of the bowlers was Sean Bailey, asked to open the bowling and finishing with 2-6 off 5 overs. The OC’s were bowled all out for a weak 99 off just 34.2 overs.
Havering set out after the low target and immediately hit trouble with in form Andy Lazenby getting one from Wickham which nipped back down the hill and snuck through the gate for a duck. Two overs later captain Tim Hills fell the same way for 1. Weak in the batting the next partnership was vital and for a moment Dan Keylock and Jack Hurley looked to have weathered the storm. Dan hitting a fine 31 before both he and Jack fell with the score on 51. From then it was a procession, Luke Dyerson, knowing there was little batting to come went for some big shots to try and stave off the inevitable but the collapse was complete when he fell for a fiery 13. The final wickets were not far behind and Havering finally slumped to an embarrassing 73 all out, losing by 24 runs.
Match Abandoned.
Havering stepped out with a heavily depleted side for their first Sunday league fixture of the season and narrowly lost out in a tight finish at Ingatestone.
Havering lost the toss and were put into bat on a good looking batting wicket on a glorious hot day and they got off to a decent steady start with Jack Hurley and Danny Beechey rotating the strike well until Danny was caught of the bowling of Emberson. Stand in skipper Tim Hills came to the wicket and quickly stepped on the pressure crashing several 4’s and a 6. His luck eventually ran out and after a string of arial shots and he was caught looking to go over the top of the infield and mistiming his shot. Jack Hurley followed soon after with the score on 86-3 off of just 15 overs and Scott Jackson and Adam Winder were urged to consolidate the quick start knowing the batting was not as strong for Havering much below them. After 10 more overs only a handful of runs were added and after drinks Scott began advancing down the wicket helping himself to an impressive 81 not out, often running quick 2’s and 3’s and pushing the fielding side in the searing heat. Adam Winder eventually went for 42 ending a decent 98 run partnership with under 5 overs remaining and the remaining Havering batsmen, targeting 250, then tried to keep up the pace eventually closing on 235-5 off their 40 overs. Best bowling was S Blackman with 2 wickets.
Ingatestone came out for the run chase to similar weather conditions and the youthful looking Havering side often struggled to settle. Two early wickets by the young but experienced Dan Beechey were not followed up and with a very short boundary on one side Ingatestone regularly exploited it, With the opener Blackman often playing unconventional shots to score maximums over the top. Scott Jackson kept wicket very well with some very wayward bowling and he backed up his good batting display with some agile work with the gloves. Haverings standards began to slip in places and misfields, dropped catches and decisions not going their way, soon meant the home side were closing in on their target of 236. Sean Bailey came into the attack and bowled well, taking the 4th wicket of Todd clean bowled for 31, but again misfields meant the new partnership quickly got to the target, and when the scores were level it was unfortunate for Dan Beechey to get clipped over mid on to the short boundary for yet another 4. Ingatestone scored 239-4 off 36.3 overs. The opener Blackman finishing with slightly fortunate 125no and Dan Beechey had best Havering figures of 2-20 off 6.3 overs.
Havering continued there winning start to the sunday season in a high scoring game at home to forest gate.
Havering batted first and got off to a shaky start loosing both openers cheaply both caught off the bowling of S Singh. However they quickly recovered to post a big score largley thanks to a big hitting 97 from 62 balls from Tim Hills who batted well and was unlucky not to get his hundred falling just short to the bowling of Choudry. Hills was supported by Tim Richardson and then Craig Wilkins who stuck around with him getting 21 and 20 respectively. The innings was then drawn to a close by some equally big hitting from Jack Hurley who came in and blasted his way to 54 not out from 27 balls allowing havering to post a total of 279-6 from their 40 overs.
In reply Forest Gate started quickly and were well up with the run rate scoring at nearly 10 runs an over for the first 15 overs. However Forest gates scoring was slowed following the introduction of Mark Chinnery to the bowling attack who finished up with figures of 5-30 after his 8 overs.
It was the loosing of regular wickets which proved forest gates down fall and helped havering to their second victory in two sunday games this season as forest gate managed 240 all out giving havering a 4 wicket victory.
